this week's suggested nominees
are:
Janet Cardiff
Douglas Gordon
Mona Hatoum
Aernout Mik
Gabriel Orozco
Dan Perjovschi
Tobias Rehberger
The objective of this exhibition
is to discover what early trends and forms will define the 21st
century and its art. It will be the most comprehensive effort to
understand contemporary art ever undertaken. No other such attempt has
ever been made.
Reflecting the popularity of
“reality” events, the Museum of New Art will ask its visitors (on-line and
at the door) to nominate their choice for the greatest living artist. At
the end of each week, these votes will be tallied and that week’s winner
will have an example of his/her work placed in a gallery exhibition when
the shortlist is announced.
At the competitions end, these
contenders will be judged by a special jury and the winner declared the
greatest living artist, then presented with this year’s Prinzhorn Prize
and given a solo exhibition at the museum.
The shortlist will be announced
December 12.
